Medical holiday in Zalakaros

Zalakaros has achieved a remarkable rank among the spas of Hungary. The town in Zala county is famous for its medical spa all over Europe and looks back on a past of more than a hundred years.

In Zalakaros there are many services exclusively for the sake of the guests so that they can enjoy both physical and mental wellness. This 800-year old town owes its fame to its spa developed on the thermal waters. In contrast to widespread misbelief, thermal water in Zalakaros can be found olnly at Gránit Thermal Bath.

The thermal water is unique in Europe because it of its unique mineral content. It is classified as belonging to the group of sulphur thermal waters. The water is also slightly radioactive.

The thermal water of Zalakaros is remarkably beneficial for healing gynaecological disorders, arthritis and orthopaedic disorders and treating various diseases of the nervous system, the cardiovascular system and metabolic dysfunction.

The spa has become the 5th or 6th largest spa in Hungary. Many guests regain their freshness in Zalakaros and return to everyday life full of energy.

The indoor bath is open throughout the year. One may chose among several indoor sitting pools with different water temperatures and an an outdoor pool with thermal water.

Hydrotherapeutic treatments include weight bath, carbon dioxide bath, a 4-cell galvanic bath and  water-jet bath. In the open-air pool of the medical centre our guests can do water exercises with the help of a qualified physiotherapist on weekday mornings. In the covered hall visitors may use the “adventure” pool, a children’s pool and a multifunctional pool.

Outdoors an “adventure” bath with thermal water can be found which offers different massages, waterspouts, springs, Scottish shower and whirlpool bath. A children’s pool features an aquatic hedgehog, squirting snake and mini slide. The ’Kamikaze’ slide is very popular and very fast! It functions as a hydro massage pool when the slide does not operate.
